Frequently Asked Questions

 

1. When can I enroll in the lesson program?
Applications for the 2008-09 pitching lesson program will be available to download from this site at the end of July.

2. How many girls are in a class?
There are 5 girls in each class. Pitchers are placed in classes based on skill and age.


3. At what age can a pitcher participate in the program?

Pitchers must be at least 7 years old and have the ability to stay focused for a 1 hour lesson.


4. If a class is missed, is a make-up class available?

Make-up classes will generally not be allowed. The exception to this would by if the instructor has to reschedule a class for any reason. There may also be situations that athletes can sub into another class for a lesson if space permits and the instructor is notified in advance about the absence.


5. Is pitching the only type of lesson offered?

We are hoping to be able to offer a series of catching and hitting lessons during the late-fall and winter. More information will be made available soon!


6. Does a pitcher need to bring a catcher with her to lessons?

Yes, pitchers do need a catcher to attend lessons with them. Pitchers are STRONGLY encouraged to bring their team catcher to work with them at lessons. Training with that person all year will be a huge benefit during competition. If necessary a parent may catch during lessons. All non-adult catcher MUST wear a mask to catch during lessons!

7. Are private lessons available?

Private lesson may be available occasionally to supplement what is learned during group lessons. These lessons will be made available primarily to athletes enrolled in group lessons or athletes traveling more than 200 miles one way for a lesson.


8. What equipment is needed for lessons?

An indoor softball, a Spin-Right Spinner, glove and tennis shoes as pitcher will be throwing off mats. Catchers under 18 years old are required to wear a mask to catch during lessons.


9. How much practice is required for lessons?

On average, pitchers will be expected to practice 2-4 times weekly.

10. What if I don’t have access to a gym or indoor facility to practice in during the winter?

Pitchers will learn MANY things in lessons that can be done WITHOUT having to use a gym or indoor facility for every practice! Several of these things can be done by themselves and without a catcher!


11. Will you come to my area to do a clinic?

BreakThrew Fastpitch will be available to do on-site clinics in your area on a limited basis. Contact us for available dates and costs.


12. What kind of facilities do I need to host a pitching clinic?

Clinics can be scheduled at a field or in a gym. If the clinic is planned for outside, a back-up indoor facility must be available for use if there is inclement weather.
