Pitching Drill: Spinner Rolls
Hey There Friend!
Spinner rolls are a fun and challenging way to work on improving your fastball spin and follow through!
Watch the video above for a detailed explanation of the drill and then read below for a few KEY THINGS to remember! I've included both "pitcher tips" and "parent/coach tips" for you just like I do inside my all on-line/app-base courses!
Pitcher Tips:
- It's likely that you will NOT be really good using the spinner right away, don't get frustrated!
- Focus on how the spinner FEELS as you release it. Do you feel it come off your middle finger?
- Check your finish. After you released the spinner, did your hand follow it out towards your target or did it stop?
Parent/Coach Tips:
- The spinner is a tool you should encourage your daughter to use regularly with her fastball AND when she begins working on certain types of changes ups and movement spins.
- If she struggles to roll the spinner straight, check to make sure that her hand continues to move towards her target after she releases it.
- If she stops her hand OR pulls it up right after release, the spinner will typically roll to her throwing side.
