What I Wish More Parents Knew About Pitcher Development

Hey there, Friend—

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work with hundreds of pitchers… and their parents.

One thing I know for sure? Parents care deeply and want to help. You want your daughter to grow. You want her to have confidence. You want her to succeed and feel proud of the work she’s putting in.

But pitching development isn’t always straightforward—and it’s not always easy to know how to help.

I’m sharing these tips to support you. These are things I’ve learned through years of working with pitchers and families—and I hope they help you feel more confident on this journey, too.

Because when we’re on the same page—
your pitcher takes big steps in her development!

1. Development Takes Time (Not Just Lessons)

Pitching is a complex skill. It’s not built in 6 weeks—or even 6 months.

It takes consistent reps… thoughtful feedback… and time for things to click. Sometimes it can feel like your daughter is working hard but not seeing the results fast enough. That’s normal.

Choose a good teacher.
Trust the process.
Stay the course.

2. Growth Isn’t Always Linear

Progress rarely moves in a straight line.

Some days, she’ll feel like an All-American. Other days, she’ll feel like she’s forgotten everything she ever learned. That doesn’t mean she’s failing—it usually means she’s learning.

Sometimes growth looks like taking a step back before taking a leap forward. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s important.

Encourage her to embrace those bumps in the road as part of her journey. Remind her that struggle is a sign she’s growing.

3. It’s Not Just About Mechanics

Mechanics matter—but they aren’t the whole picture.

The best pitchers are the ones who show up with presence, confidence, and a plan. They compete. They adjust. They shake off mistakes. And they stay composed under pressure.

That’s why I include mental training and competitive challenges in everything I do—not just physical development.

Pitchers don’t just need to throw strikes—
they need to learn how to lead.

4. Parents Play a Bigger Role Than You Might Realize

You don’t need to understand every technical cue I give your daughter.

But you do influence how she experiences the game—and her training.

What you say in the car ride home… how you react when she struggles… what you celebrate… it all matters.

Here are a few ways to help her feel supported:

  • Ask her how she felt instead of what her stats were

  • Praise her effort, attitude, and willingness to learn

  • Let the coach be the coach—and you be her safe space

Your support is powerful. Don’t underestimate it.

5. The Right Program Matters

Not all pitching instruction is the same.

A great program should go beyond just "pitching" practice. It should teach your daughter how to train with purpose, grow her confidence, set meaningful goals, and evaluate what’s working—and what’s holding her back.

That’s why my training programs include:

  • A focus on building a strong foundation

  • Developing strength and speed

  • Building a growth mindset she can take into everything she does

  • Understanding how to compete with confidence

  • Accountability tools to help her stay on track

If you’re investing your time, energy, and resources into her pitching journey—make sure you’re investing in a program that develops the complete pitcher.

Final Thoughts: We’re On the Same Team

At the end of the day, I know we both want the same thing:
For your daughter to become stronger, more confident, and more resilient—on the field and off.

And I want to say thank you.
Thank you for trusting me to be part of her journey.
Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for cheering her on.

We’re in this together—and I’m so glad you’re here! 😊

All My Best,
Myndie

P.S.

If your pitcher could use a little extra support either physically or mentally this summer, I still have a few spots left in my upcoming summer camps! These events are a great way for her to build confidence, sharpen her skills, and keep growing in between seasons.
